ADIDAS X PARLEY: CLOSING THE LOOP- ZOE ATTWOOD
How can Adidas incorporate a closed-loop system into their current Adidas x Parley collaboration? This send back system would address lack of awareness of close-loop ideas by educating and supplying information using clothing tags. It wouldn’t require in-store interactions as the send back bag would be included in all purchases and the bag would be made from recycled adidas x parley products/ recycled ocean plastic.
TRANSCENDING THE TRANSITION PLAN- ANDREA BENATAR
Transcending the Transition Plan is a research and design study surrounding the transition out of high school and into adulthood for individuals with autism. The proposed intervention, Transcend, would be a multifaceted digital service that could (a) help to facilitate and ease the stress of planning this transition period for parents and families and (b) provide fulfilling and accessible alternatives to traditional postsecondary options for students.
This project was continued as a year long independent study (more information here).
UNPACK YOUR BAG: SEPARATING FUNCTION & AESTHETIC IN GENDERED OUTDOOR GEAR- STACY KELLNER
Unpack Your Bag is a marketing campaign that lends transparency into customer needs and allows brands to understand aesthetic in a new way. The final design serves as a template for outdoor brands to replicate and adapt to fit their needs. By participating, each brand is introduced into a growing coalition; the relationships between brands are naturally strengthened.

POINT: THE NEW CLASSROOM FOR EVERYONE- SHAMBHAVI DESHPANDE
In a world that turned upside down in a matter of a few months, Point represents the crux of what really matters to us, as all of us navigate through this tough phase, and learn new paradigms as we emerge from it. It represents the values of inclusion and trust, that we should practice with more sincerity in dire situations like this. It represents the process of letting go of all that is ornamental, and getting us closer to learning the essence of things that matter the most.
HELPING HANDS- RAYMOND PAI
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the immunodeficient elderly have decreased accessibility to sanitary groceries. Helping Hands is a grocery delivery app for volunteers to help deliver the correct groceries to the elderly according to the grocery list the clients requested through the order call.

COVID-19 is not the rapid apocalypse Hollywood loves, but it is a monumental cultural period that is changing the way we live. The level of restriction put on individuals ranges in severity and duration under different national and local governments, but what remains the same for all is this is hard. How might we reframe how we see productivity during this time and what can we create to best foster motivation and productivity in a healthy way for individuals?
BITE-SIZED STORIES- ANGELA LEE AND MONICA CHANG
With shelter-in-place responses to COVID-19, small, family-owned restaurants are struggling to adapt to the restrictions on in-person interaction. Bite-sized Stories is a website that persuades users to support local food businesses by sharing stories about those businesses.

FIGURING OUT THE FUTURE OF WORK- RICKY CHEN
With the world having greater dependency on artificial intelligence (AI) automation, various forms of occupation are at risk of being disrupted. While this is happening, many people are unaware of the situation as well as how to prepare due to the lack of accessibility to information, resources, and support. “Figuring out the Future of Work”, a printed informational booklet that guides people through the process of automation while dissecting the complicated components into more digestible bits.
COMMUNITY APP- SNEHITA SANA & NINA ZANARELLI
Our research has shown a decrease in student socialization, leading to a decrease in the stability of students’ support systems and a lack of motivation to continue school work remotely, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting quarantine and remote learning. We propose a mobile application available to all CMU students, with the goal of bringing back a level of structure, routine, and positivity into students’ lives.
This project was continued and fully developed in the summer of 2020.
SUSTAINABLE FASHION CAMPAIGN- MIHIKA BANSAL
Meant to tackle the growing number of problems resulting from our consumeristic society, this 3 part intervention manifests itself as an online, interactive awareness campaign. It is meant to push the users to reevaluate what they value when buying clothing, with the primary goal to put whether or not the purchase is ethical/sustainable at the top of their decision chain.
